finally a homeowner

After almost three weeks of no posts I am finally getting back on to give you some big updates.

As of February 27th I am officially a homeowner. As of Saturday I will have been living in my new home for 2 weeks. Which makes me slightly delayed in getting this post up for you. Many of you probably saw an outdoor shot of the house on facebook or instagram and I promised inside pictures would be coming shortly. Can we still call this shortly?

Without any more delays here are some pictures of the house.

A little cape cod built in 1958. We have 11 trees on our property which will be beautiful as they start to get their leaves in the next few weeks and a lot of raking when they lose them in the fall. Still waiting to see what the bushes in the front are and loving my little light post. We have 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and a basement for almost 3,000 square feet.

The living room which is holding the majority of our furniture. To say we are going to need to add to our furniture collection is an understatement. Got to love the original hardwood floors though.

Still working on my lighting skills in pictures so I apologize for the orange hue in the bottom post but you get the idea of the space. We have some pictures to hang and need a piece of furniture for the entertainment and it will be the most complete room in the house.

The downstairs bathroom is an interesting combination of colors. We have the aqua tiles, white walls and ….

Green floors that look like they are original to the house. This floor will be staying. The aqua tile will be on its way out some day down the road.

A little dining area off the kitchen that you can see from the living room. This photo was taken during our inspections so that isn’t our furniture. That room is actually empty at the moment.

My favorite room in the house will come as no surprise, the kitchen. I love this space and in the same breath I can’t wait to redo it and make it mine. The stove certainly needs an upgrade. An exciting feature we found in the kitchen is painted over wallpaper. That is going to be a lot of fun to remove.

There is so much space. I am still working out the best way to use it all. Also trying to craft a way to get rid of the wine rack shelf and make it something more useful until I can get new cabinets.

More trees! I was excited to find out at closing that I have peonies already growing in my front and backyards. Can’t wait to see them bloom.

This deck will probably be on its way out this spring. The low telephone and cable wires are a bit of a hazard and paver patio might open up the space a little more. Someday we will get around to a fire pit and a bocce court to make the yard truly complete.

On the upper level are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The bathroom isn’t anything particularly exciting to share so we will skip it this go around. The bedrooms are very similar. They will be our first project. We are replacing the carpet before we more up there. These pictures were also taken during our inspection so this furniture isn’t ours either. We should have this painted in the next few weeks. I will share more pictures of the cool built-ins then.

Who has opinions on ceiling fans? I have five in the house should they stay or should they go?

Almost forgot a room. My own little library. Complete with bookcases. If only I had known I wouldn’t have sold all those cookbooks before we moved. Have to get to work on adding to the collection again.

If buying a house wasn’t enough we had another big milestone in the last two weeks. We got our first dog. You can see here peeking out of her cage in the corner. Her name is Olive and like most Boston Terriers she is a bundle of energy, don’t let the next picture fool you. If we can housebreak her before she uses our living room rug as a bathroom I will call it a success.
