Now that you have bought the food or grown the food you have to think about cooking food.
Cooking skills are the most lacking in modern generations. If your kids start out as good eaters but don’t learn how to be a decent home cook all of your hard work could be for naught. Once they leave the nest they need to know how to put what you taught them about growing and buying food into practice.
As an added benefit, handing down cooking skills and recipes is an important and fun way of handing down family history. I have a handful of recipes that are so special to me because they were made for me on special occasions that I still love. They bring back such memories when I cook them at home. I hope my daughter has her own recipes she loves to make when she is older. That is all going to hinge on me teaching her some basic skills in the kitchen.
